Fixed prices, no surprises

What it costs.

Our fee, the council's fee, and any reports your job needs. The whole picture, not one line of it.

Estimate your fee

Pick what your project involves and the fee builds up as you go. It is a fixed quote, not a guess. We confirm it in writing when you apply.

$2,760

For a single scope, including GST. Each extra scope (a second bathroom, a wall, a fireplace) adds $287.50. The interactive estimator slots in here next.

What every consent includes

Preliminary plans

Stage 1. We draw your project so you can price it with builders before you commit to anything.

Consent drawings

Stage 2. The full working drawings the council needs to approve your job.

Council submission

We lodge the application and handle the back-and-forth with council until it is approved.

Five working days

Our turnaround to preliminary plans, so you are not left waiting on the first step.

What the whole project costs

Our fee is one part of the picture. Most projects also have council fees, usually $600 to $1,200 depending on your council and scope. Some need an external report (geotech, stormwater, or engineering), though most do not. If yours does, we tell you upfront in your quote.

Why it costs less than an architect would charge

Architects are set up for full design and project management, so consent drawings alone can run $5,000 to $9,000. We do one thing, minor building consents, so the fee reflects that. Same drawing standard, narrower scope, lower price.

★★★★★

Our original quotes for drawings to get our load bearing wall removed came in anywhere between 5 to 9 grand. We felt totally disheartened. After finding Mr Draughty on Google, people told us the pricing was too good to be true, warning us that you get what you pay for. They were wrong.
